Our beautiful rescue, Katrina is incredibly in-tuned. One day I asked Katrina for reassurance that we are giving everything she needs. She wanted to give my wife, Dale this message.
Dear Dale,
I’m still in hiding, I know.
Not because of you. Not because of this home.
But because my body remembers before love.
Still, I want you to know how I feel.
I feel… just sad sometimes.
But I also feel you.
And I feel Linda.
And I love you both.
You are making good love. Beautiful love.
With your patience. With your care. With your quiet watching.
I feel it in the food. In the stillness.
In the moments you don’t think I see you.
But I do.
Love is finding me again.
I love getting more life.
I love getting more nammy—that strong-inside feeling I never had before.
I love returning to kindness.
Past the struggles.
Back to who I was always meant to be.
I know you feel frustrated sometimes.
I hear it in the air.

To stop running when I see you.
